What is NASA confirms first all-female spacewalk later
NASA confirmed to CNN that if all goes according to plan, the first historic spacewalk will take place on March 29 from the International Space Station.
Our first hint that on this important occasion was a tweet from the Canadian Space Agency Flight Supervisor Kristin Fasiol on March 1:
Facciol will observe NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Christina Koch as part of Expedition 59, according to NASA’s website. The space walk will take approximately 7 hours.
NASA spokeswoman Stephanie Scherholz told CNN by email that although the space walk was not necessarily a goal or planned. But initially that will be done soon, but this is how the schedule is finished, and she said that besides both spacecraft, Planned Aviation Director and Flight Operator EVA (Spacewalk) are women too.
McClain and Koch were both part of the 2013 astronaut class, with half of them female and coming from the second-largest number of NASA requests ever received – more than 6,100.The last category of flight managers were also 50% women. ”
While McLean is working on the International Space Station as part of its mission launched in December 2018, Koch will arrive on March 14 aboard the Roscosmos Soyuz spacecraft. This will be McClain’s first space walk and flight. Koch’s first space
McClain was aboard the International Space Station to welcome the last SpaceX CrewDragon on March 3, while the unmanned ship features a crash-test doll called “Ripley” and a small stuffed toy that Clean and his friends. Residents of the International Space Station adopted it and named it “Earth”, “Little Earth” and “Buddy”. Game makers Celestial Buddies have fully sold the popular game now.
ScienceAlert shares photos from NASA about the adventures of the International Space Station crew with the fancy little mascot.
According to Smithsonian Magazine, spacewalk is the term used for any activity performed by astronauts outside a vehicle while in space, including experiments, equipment testing and repairs. We still don’t know what McLean and Koch will do when they walk into space.
Of course, this is not the first time a female astronaut has participated in a spacewalk, astronaut Svetlana Savitskaya was the first woman to walk in space in 1984 outside the Salyut 7 space station.
Interestingly, according to engineering, only 11% of the more than 500 people who have gone in space are women. So far, only four missions involved two women on any spacewalk.
NASA warns that space travel schedules are subject to change. But if all goes well, we’ll see more space history at the end of this month.
After months of delay, SpaceX Crew Dragon was launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on March 2 at 2:49 p.m. EST.This is the first time in history that an American spacecraft and missile has been commercialized. And operating from the US soil
Today’s successful launch marks a new chapter of American excellence that brings us closer to the return of American astronauts aboard a rocket from American land. Congratulations to the SpaceX and NASA teams for their great achievements in our country’s history of space, marking the first ever launch of space systems. Designed for Humans, Creating and running a trading company through a public-private partnership is a revolutionary step in bringing humans to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
Interested viewers can also watch Crew Dragon shut down in preparation for the departure of the International Space Station, the departure from the ISS, orbital ejection and landing on the site on March 8.
After debit, the spacecraft will land in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida for recovery by SpaceX’s Go Searcher recovery ship.
The last U.S. space shuttle mission was in 2011, opening up this flight even without a driver. But it also brings the country closer to sending American astronauts back into space.
The SpaceX flight, known as the Demo-1, is designed to detect problems that may arise in future driverless missions. The vehicle will demonstrate the rendezvous, automatic control, maneuvering and final docking sequence, some of which are the first events that cannot be simulated on a computer. The spacecraft will test new detection and propulsion systems and new coupling mechanisms.
The ship carries over 400 pounds of crew supplies and equipment to the space station and will return research samples from the International Space Station, according to NASA.
In the future, the researchers hope that the Crew Dragon will be able to fire up to four crew members and carry more than 220 pounds of cargo, while the spacecraft is designed to be anchored on the International Space Station for up to 210 days, this test flight will take.
While the White House told NASA it wanted the American astronauts to return to space as quickly as possible. But the agency and crew remain insufficiently funded. As the Trump administration wants to see a new moon mission. But the NASA administrator position is one of many scientific positions.NASA has no choice but to partner with commercial firms and operate spaceflight programs through a public-private partnership.
SpaceX by Elon Musk is a big partner with NASA and has been delivering the cargo to the space station as a drone for years.
If the mission is successful, Demo-1 will provide NASA and SpaceX with data that will help them prepare for a flight to the International Space Station Demo-2 with NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley in early July.
